Licorice is the root of glycyrrhiza glabra from which a sweet flavor can be extracted. It is commonly used as a flavoring for tobacco, candies and sweeteners. There are a lot of health benefits that we can get from licorice, but just like any other medication, too much consumption may result in adverse effects. As used medically, it can be used as an antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and blood pressure-increasing effect. A molecule from licorice root nullifies liver damage from alcohol and Tylenol…stunning scientific research has been systematically suppressed by Big Pharma and the FDA. I haven’t read the article yet, but the picture of the red licorice is really wrong. There is no real licorice in it.

They are referring to the root of glycyrrhiza glabra. Not the red candy 🙂 You do have to be careful when using the root, in some people it can higher your blood pressure.

Do not share this completely misleading item. It is not the confectionery but a herb root known as Glycyrrhiza glabra. If suffering from high blood pressure, a heart condition, oedema or are taking certain medications such as warfarin or diuretics, do not take liquorice (or licorice) root.
